FAQ

  • What is hail damage and how does it affect my building?
Hail is a large frozen raindrop that is produced by intense thunderstorms where snow and rain coexist. When these conditions exist, buildings may sustain considerable damage.
  • Can I tell if my roof has hail damage from the ground?
In order to determine if the shingles have been damaged due to a hail storm a close inspection of the shingles must be made from the roof. Damage is often missed from inspecting from the ground.
  • If my roof has hail damage and needs to be replaced, what will homeowner’s insurance cover?
Coverage varies from policy to policy; however, most companies will replace the entire roof if 25% has hail damage. It doesn’t matter how old your roof is, whether it's 1 year old or 25 years old; insurance companies don’t depreciate roofs. For roofs, typically all insurance companies offer cost value, which pays to replace an old roof with an identical new product.
  • Will my insurance company cancel my policy if I file and insurance claim?
If your roof has any damage what-so-ever you have a legitimate insurance claim and should file with your insurance company. Insurance companies cannot cancel your policy for an "Act of God" disaster related claim.
  • What should I do if I don't agree with my insurance company's scope of work in the estimate and/or the adjuster's assessment of the damage?
During a natural disaster an insurance adjuster may have a higher volume of claims than normal. They may overlook things on the first inspection. If there are discrepancies between our estimate and that of your insurance company, we will assist you in requesting a re-inspection.
